HORKOS

Terms of Use

Effective date: 25 April 2026 Company: Horkos Ltd Product: Horkos

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern access to and use of Horkos, including the Horkos website, hosted verification flow, APIs, admin panel, documentation, webhooks, and related services.

“Horkos”, “we”, “us”, and “our” mean Horkos Ltd.

By accessing or using Horkos, you agree to these Terms.

If you use Horkos on behalf of a company or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

1. What Horkos does

Horkos is a B2B identity verification infrastructure service.

Businesses use Horkos to create verification sessions, collect identity document and selfie data from end users, run configured checks, and receive technical verification results.

Depending on configuration, Horkos may support:

  • hosted verification links;
  • document upload;
  • OCR and MRZ extraction;
  • document quality checks;
  • face matching between a document portrait and a selfie;
  • liveness checks;
  • rule-based decisions;
  • manual review;
  • webhooks;
  • audit logs;
  • admin panel access;
  • API-based integrations.

Horkos provides technical verification infrastructure. The business using Horkos remains responsible for how it uses verification results in its own product, onboarding process, account decisions, and user communications.

2. Users covered by these Terms

These Terms apply to:

  • business customers using Horkos;
  • administrators, developers, reviewers, and operators using the Horkos platform;
  • end users who complete a Horkos-powered verification flow;
  • visitors to the Horkos website.

Some business customers may also have a separate written agreement or order form with Horkos. If there is a conflict between these Terms and a signed agreement, the signed agreement controls for that customer.

3. Business customer responsibilities

If you are a business customer, you are responsible for:

  • deciding why a person is asked to complete verification;
  • giving users clear information before sending them into the verification flow;
  • choosing the verification checks, thresholds, providers, and decision policies;
  • ensuring that your use of Horkos is appropriate for your business;
  • reviewing manual-review cases where needed;
  • handling user support, appeals, retry requests, and account outcomes;
  • keeping your API keys, admin accounts, webhook secrets, and integration credentials secure;
  • ensuring that your integration sends accurate data to Horkos;
  • not using Horkos in a way that harms users, Horkos, or third parties.

You are responsible for all activity under your account, API keys, hosted flows, and admin users.

4. End-user responsibilities

If you complete a Horkos-powered verification flow, you agree to:

  • provide accurate and current information;
  • use your own valid identity document;
  • not impersonate another person;
  • not submit altered, fake, stolen, or misleading documents;
  • not attempt to bypass liveness, face matching, document checks, or other verification controls;
  • allow camera or file-upload access where needed to complete the flow;
  • follow the instructions shown during the verification process.

If you cannot complete the verification flow or believe the result is wrong, contact the business that requested your verification.

5. Access and accounts

Horkos may provide access through:

  • admin accounts;
  • tenant API keys;
  • session tokens;
  • hosted verification links;
  • webhooks;
  • service credentials.

You must protect credentials from unauthorized use.

You must notify Horkos promptly if you believe credentials were lost, stolen, leaked, or misused.

Horkos may revoke, rotate, suspend, or limit credentials where needed to protect the service.

6. API use

If you use the Horkos API, you agree to:

  • follow the documentation;
  • use authentication correctly;
  • validate webhook signatures;
  • handle idempotency correctly;
  • respect rate limits;
  • avoid excessive retries;
  • avoid sending unnecessary data;
  • handle errors safely;
  • not interfere with the service or other customers.

Horkos may change API behavior, limits, or fields as the platform evolves. For material breaking changes, Horkos will use reasonable efforts to provide notice where practical.

7. Webhooks

Horkos may send webhook events to endpoints configured by the business customer.

The business customer is responsible for:

  • providing a working endpoint;
  • validating webhook signatures;
  • keeping webhook secrets secure;
  • handling retries and duplicate events;
  • returning appropriate HTTP responses;
  • not exposing webhook payloads to unauthorized parties.

Webhook delivery is not guaranteed to be instant or permanent.

8. Prohibited use

You must not use Horkos to:

  • impersonate another person;
  • submit fraudulent, stolen, altered, or misleading documents;
  • attack, scan, overload, disrupt, or reverse engineer the service;
  • bypass authentication, rate limits, liveness checks, face matching, or other controls;
  • extract, scrape, or misuse data;
  • upload malware or harmful content;
  • use another customer’s account, API key, hosted link, or session;
  • interfere with another customer’s use of Horkos;
  • use Horkos for unlawful, abusive, deceptive, or harmful activity;
  • test Horkos with real third-party data without proper authorization.

Horkos may suspend or terminate access if we believe the service is being misused.

9. Verification results

Horkos may return technical results such as:

  • extracted document fields;
  • MRZ validation result;
  • face match score;
  • liveness score;
  • document quality score;
  • pass/fail result;
  • retry required;
  • needs manual review;
  • reason codes;
  • audit events.

Verification technology is probabilistic.

Horkos does not guarantee that every genuine user will pass or that every fraudulent attempt will fail.

Business customers are responsible for setting appropriate thresholds, reviewing edge cases, and deciding what action to take based on Horkos results.

10. Manual review

Where manual review is enabled, authorized users may review session metadata, extracted fields, scores, reason codes, and available media if it has not already expired or been purged.

Manual reviewers must act honestly, consistently, and only for the business purpose connected to the verification session.

Manual decisions should include a reason or comment where the platform requires it.

11. Data handling

Horkos handles data as described in the Horkos Privacy Policy and any applicable written agreement.

Raw passport, ID card, selfie, and video bytes are not designed for long-term storage by default.

In the standard Horkos deployment, raw media may be stored temporarily for processing and has a hard lifecycle expiry of 24 hours, with eager purge after the relevant pipeline step.

Horkos may retain non-raw records such as:

  • session metadata;
  • OCR-extracted fields;
  • hashes;
  • scores;
  • model versions;
  • decision results;
  • reason codes;
  • webhook records;
  • audit chain events.

These records help explain what happened in a session without keeping raw media longer than needed.

12. Customer data

As between Horkos and the business customer, the business customer owns its customer data.

Horkos may process customer data to:

  • provide the service;
  • secure the platform;
  • debug and support integrations;
  • maintain audit logs;
  • improve reliability and performance;
  • enforce these Terms.

Horkos does not sell customer verification data.

13. Feedback

If you provide suggestions, ideas, bug reports, feature requests, or other feedback, Horkos may use that feedback without restriction or obligation to you.

14. Third-party services

Horkos may integrate with third-party providers for hosting, storage, OCR, face matching, liveness, document analysis, monitoring, support, email, or other operational functions.

Third-party providers may process data only as needed for the configured service.

Horkos is not responsible for third-party services controlled directly by a business customer outside Horkos.

15. Service availability

Horkos aims to provide a reliable service but does not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

The service may be unavailable due to:

  • maintenance;
  • infrastructure issues;
  • provider outages;
  • network issues;
  • security events;
  • customer integration errors;
  • force majeure events.

Horkos may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service as the platform evolves.

16. Beta, demo, and internal features

Some Horkos features may be marked beta, demo, staging, internal, experimental, or preview.

These features may be incomplete, unstable, changed without notice, or removed.

Do not rely on beta or demo features for production decisions unless Horkos has agreed otherwise in writing.

17. Fees

Fees, billing terms, usage limits, and payment terms may be set out in an order form, invoice, subscription plan, or separate written agreement.

Unless otherwise agreed, fees are non-refundable once the service has been provided.

Horkos may suspend access for unpaid fees after reasonable notice.

18. Confidentiality

Each party may receive non-public information from the other party.

The receiving party must protect confidential information using reasonable care and must not use it except to perform or receive the service.

Confidential information does not include information that is public, already known without restriction, independently developed, or lawfully received from another source.

19. Intellectual property

Horkos owns all rights in the Horkos platform, software, APIs, documentation, designs, workflows, models, service logic, and related technology.

Customers and users receive only a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Horkos according to these Terms and any applicable agreement.

These Terms do not transfer ownership of Horkos technology to any customer or user.

20. Disclaimers

Horkos is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis unless a signed agreement says otherwise.

Horkos does not promise that:

  • every genuine user will pass automatically;
  • every document type, browser, device, or country will work perfectly;
  • the service will meet every customer requirement.

Horkos does not provide legal, financial, risk, or account-decision advice.

21. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Horkos will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, business interruption, or reputational harm.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Horkos’s total liability arising out of or related to the service will not exceed the amounts paid to Horkos for the service in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim.

The limitation above does not apply where liability cannot be limited by law.

22. Indemnity

Business customers agree to defend and indemnify Horkos against claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses arising from:

  • customer misuse of Horkos;
  • customer data provided to Horkos;
  • customer decisions made using Horkos results;
  • customer failure to give proper notices or obtain required permissions;
  • customer breach of these Terms;
  • customer violation of third-party rights.

23. Suspension and termination

Horkos may suspend or terminate access if:

  • you breach these Terms;
  • credentials are compromised;
  • use of the service creates security risk;
  • payment is overdue;
  • use of the service may harm Horkos, users, customers, providers, or third parties;
  • continued access would expose the platform to unacceptable risk.

After termination, Horkos may delete or retain data according to the Privacy Policy, written agreement, backup cycles, and operational needs.

24. Changes to these Terms

Horkos may update these Terms from time to time.

If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide notice through the website, platform, customer communication, or another appropriate channel.

Continued use of Horkos after updated Terms become effective means you accept the updated Terms.

25. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Insert governing jurisdiction], unless a signed agreement states otherwise.

The courts of [Insert venue] will have exclusive jurisdiction, unless a signed agreement states otherwise.
